Slavic Paganism is the polytheistic religion practised by the pre-Christian Slavs. The religion possesses many common traits with other religions descended from the Proto-Indo-European religion. Old Slavic religion evolved over more than a thousand years and some parts of it are from neolithic or possibly even mesolithic times.
Slavic Pagansim has a naturalist focus and rituals were performed in nature. Slavic heathenry is polytheistic, the chief god being Perun, god of thunder and lightning, quite similiar to the Germanic god Thor.

For Crusader Kings enthusiast and Reddit member Zak, that personal goal came very quickly upon beginning the game. When I saw Zak's post on Reddit stating he had conquered every holy site, defeated three separate Crusades, and reformed the Norse religion to include cannibalism, just so he could eat the Pope So I reached out for comment. Zak told me via Reddit message he had heard in Crusader Kings 3 you could reform the pagan faiths—one of Zak's favorite features from CK2, which he's played about hours of.

As I scrolled, an option caught my eye. It was then, before a single day had ticked over, that I knew what I must do. It was my destiny. Halfdan died, but Zak took over playing as his son, Ragnarr, who finished unifying the British Isles. The Pope, uneaten at that point, launched a Crusade for England, but due to some strategic alliances—"Marrying every single female in my family to random Pagan leaders," as Zak put it—Ragnarr managed to hold back the Crusade while stocking his dungeon with Catholic prisoners.
Taking over as Ragnarr's son, Bjorn, Zak decided to burn those Catholics, which generated "hundreds and hundreds" of piety pointsthanks to the Human Sacrifice tenet. Bjorn then began conquering holy sites to reform the Norse faith and develop a particular appetite. With Bjorn now a cannibal, and after defending against another Crusade, the Norsemen sacked Rome and acquired a very special prisoner with a very large hat.
When you've imprisoned someone, you can execute them, and if you're a cannibal, you can both execute and eat them. According to Zak, it took him about in-game years and about 15 real-world hours to accomplish his goal of consuming the Pope. As you can see in the screenshot above, beheading and devouring Pope Gregorious VI had a few effects. Notably, it lowered his stress by 40 points.
Bjorn's, not the Pope's. I also love the line "As I have a fair reason, no one will think me a Tyrant. Bjorn did, in fact, get sick after dining on Pope-meat. Please deactivate your ad blocker in order to see our subscription offer. His goal was to eat the Pope.

That was before EG thingy and this current paganism system. I was near of finishin the game but alas my luck ran out. My Chieftes was awesome. She was Crazy as owl. Used shoe as hat. Vassals were loayl and i had relatively safespot at Northern Finland. Comapared other Pagan regions my place was quite nice. If Sweden and Norway would have stayed as Norse, i would have been able to win. That Swedish crusade over Finland was too much to bear.
I had no way to win against all those folk who joined the cause of wiping Suomenusko away. Shadow View Profile View Posts. You can't. With this CK3 religion guide, you can be inspired as if on high through its various nuances and complexities. Do you want to preach to the outlanders, make peace with your heretical neighbors, or perhaps invent your very own cult?
No matter what appeals to you, have faith that this breakdown of everything you need to know about religion in Crusader Kings 3 will give you the enlightenment you need. If that's you, first pick up the Prophet perk from the Theologian tree in the Learning lifestyle.
This cuts the Piety cost of creating a new faith in half, which makes it far more realistically attainable.Download english audio track for money heist season 4
You should also keep the Theology character focus active for the additional monthly piety. You can squeeze out even more by marrying someone with a high Learning stat and setting them to the Patronage spouse job, and by making sure your realm priest has a very high Learning stat if you belong to a religion that allows you to appoint one yourself. Building lots of temples also helps. Each step in the intolerant direction will give you an increasing opinion penalty with other rulers of that faith, and increase the amount of unrest in counties where the people follow it.
So, keep a close eye on how your neighbors view your religion, and be careful when converting to a heresy that will be seen as Hostile to any nearby rivals. In general, the Dharmic religions of the East like Hinduism and Buddhism are the most tolerant, while the Abrahamic religions of the West like Christianity and Islam are the least tolerant. Every religion in Crusader Kings 3 has a handful of Holy Sites, generally in places that were historically significant for its founding or worship.
Each Holy Site you control unlocks bonuses for every ruler who follows your religion, such as bonus stat points, increased taxes, or extra combat power for your knights. You will also need to hold at least three of them to reform your religion if you start as a pagan.
Faiths that have Great Holy Wars, such as Christian Crusades or Muslim Jihads, are likely to fight tooth and nail to secure these sites. In Crusader Kings 3, each faith has its own list of virtues and sins that are based on its tenets, which can even be changed in the creation of a new heresy.
For example, Catholics believe vengeful characters are sinners and forgiving ones are virtuous. But Asatru Norse paganism believes the exact reverse, exalting those who avenge every slight and look down on those who turn the other cheek. Thus, no trait is seen as inherently good or bad; it all depends on what your faith teaches.
If you create a heresy with the Sacred Lies tenet, for instance, deceitful characters will be viewed as upstanding and honest ones will be defying the will of the gods. Yes, really. Image credit: Paradox Interactive. You can change every single Tenet and Doctrine of your hypothetical new Faith on this screen, though the list of what Tenets are available to pick varies from Religion to Religion. For example, Tenets based on the concept of Dharma are exclusive to Oriental Religions, whereas Monasticism was common practice and is thus available to everyone.
This means when creating a new Faith, you must first ensure you are a member of the Religion that you want to base your new Faith off of. Beyond simple availability, it is also easier for some Religions to accept certain Doctrines than others.
For example, Islam is used to polyamory and will happily accept a new Faith espousing it. In contrast, a new Christian faith that claims God intended us to have multiple spouses will be met with a little more skepticism…. The further you deviate from your original Faith, the more Piety you will need in order to convince the priests that yes, you actually have had a vision from the divine and yes, you actually are enforcing their will and not just trying to make some weird personal sex cult.
After you have made all the changes you want, you will be given the total amount of Piety your character needs in order to create their new Faith. This cost can get quite high, meaning that creating a new Faith or reforming a pagan one ends up being a life-long goal for most characters.
Finally, timing your divine revelation to completely coincidentally occur when your Faith is suffering from low Fervor will make it much easier to get everyone to buy into your new canon I will talk more about Fervor in our future Dev Diary on heresy outbreaks. Once you are happy with your Tenets and Doctrines and have accumulated the necessary amount of Piety, you can officially convert to your new Faith.
After all, if you die before your new Faith gains a foothold in the world, there is a good chance your Faith will die with you…. This Doctrine grants notable bonuses to Tribal rulers early on, but it locks them into the Tribal government type and provides substantial Opinion penalties to any non-Tribal vassals they acquire. Since Tribal realms are notoriously unstable, successful chieftains will eventually want to look into either converting to a reformed religion so they can feudalize, or reforming their pagan religion into a true organized faith.
Once you accomplish this, the process is quite similar to creating a new Faith of an existing reformed Religion.
Your vassals may still be reluctant to convert to your newly reformed Faith, but because reformed Faiths gain a bonus to conversion against unreformed Faiths, you will have a much easier time convincing them to go along with your reformation than a heresiarch within in an existing Faith would have with making a new heresy. To finish this off, here are a few choice tenets and doctrines which you can pick when creating a new Faith in CK3.
Many of these are also used by already existing Faiths, but some are only available to custom Faiths created by players. As you can see, there is a lot of variety in the kinds of custom Faiths you can create — ultimately every kind of playstyle should have some set of Tenets and Doctrines to support it!
